Brian Houchins  of Mechanicsburg is the winner of the 2023 A Community Recognition Award.  This prestigious award is introduced annually to a person who has demonstrated exceptional dedication to enhancing the lives of children in our neighborhood.

Brian Houchins, a dedicated elementary college instructor and group volunteer, has been an unwavering advocate for children's education and welfare.  Over the previous ten years, his efforts have considerably impacted the lives of numerous youngsters in Mechanicsburg and surrounding areas.  Houchins' initiatives embrace establishing a free after-school tutoring program for underprivileged students, weekend workshops focusing on literacy and numeracy skills for at-risk youth, and main a successful community-driven marketing campaign to upgrade local playgrounds, guaranteeing secure and inclusive play areas for all children.

The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on January 15,at the beginning of January2024,2024located at the Mechanicsburg Community Center.  The occasion will characteristic speeches from local dignitaries, a presentation about Houchins' contributions, and the award presentation.
